Oct. 31, 2017 | In Good Conscience: Addressing Tolerance and Intolerance in the Classroom
Tuesday, October 31, 2017 4:00pm
Butler Commons, Duane Library
Please join the Center for Ethics Education and the Theology Department at a lecture by Dr. Marcia Chatelain on and tolerance and intolerance in the classroom. This is an especially timely conversation in light of cultural and political concerns about free expression and about the value of higher education itself.
Dr. Chatelain travels around the world to talk to communities about an array of topics, including her research on girls and young women of color, the connection between civil rights and food, the Black Lives Matter Movement, the 2016 presidential election, and social media campaigns, such as #FergusonSyllabus. Additionally, Dr. Chatelain conducts workshops on inclusive teaching, difficult dialogue in the classroom, and workplace dynamics around race, gender, sexuality, and social class.
Space is limited. Please contact ethics@fordham.edu for RSVP and location.
