Cultivating Moral Persons: Buddhist Ethics in Conversation

Dr. Joshua Shapiro, postdoctoral fellow in theology at Fordham University, will discuss Buddhist forms of meditation that treat bodily discomfort and anguish as positive forces in service of ethical growth: meditations that strengthen practitioners’ resolve to prioritize the wellbeing of others over themselves. Dr. Christopher Gowans (Philosophy) will offer a brief response.
